Viva Viagra
I'm deviating away from anime today for my topic of choice. I may do this occasionally just for fun and to prove that my life doesn't revolve around anime (just mostly). So I've always been amused by television commercials and paying attention to the ones that really stand out as incredulous. Now, Viagra has been putting out some interesting commercials lately, in particular I'm referring to the one with the middle aged band. If you haven't seen the commercial, it's a group of four to five middle aged men sitting around what looks like an abandoned shack somewhere (though it might be the most rustic bar in existence) having a jam session together. There they all are singing a song that sounds vaguely like 'Viva Las Vegas' until they get to the choruse and you hear them all sing in unison 'Vivvvvvvvvvva Viagra! Vivvvvvvvvvvva Viagra!' Seriously... I may not be the most manly man out there so perhaps I'm just in the dark on this but do middled aged men really get together for jam sessions in which they sing loud songs about their ED? Is this true for all middle aged men or just musicians? Is this commercial supposed to indicate to me that in 15-20 years I'm going to sitting around somewhere with a group of anime geeks singing happy songs in various dialects of mangled Japanese about our ED? (Wow, I managed to connect this to anime after all.) I can imagine that this isn't something that is openly discussed among men folk but I suppose if you're singing than that changes everything.
