Would I be an Otaku in Japan?

I was thinking about something this morning... if I were to suddenly move to Japan for some reason, would I still be the same otaku that I am here? It's easy to say, yeah I would but if I really think about it... I'm not so sure.

While I love anime and I love it when people call me an 'expert' (though I'll always deny it since I don't believe that tag to apply to me), I can imagine that moving to the source like that would cause a big issue of 'big fish in little pond becomes little fish in big giant freaking huge pond'.

Plus you gotta figure that burn out would happen pretty quickly and I'd hate to get burnt out on something I love so much and have dedicated so much of my life to in various ways. Guess the anime fandom of the US is going to be stuck with me for a little while longer.

Contributor's Note

The first of what I hope will be many little entries giving me an outlet on all things anime (that aren't reviews).
